Jeddah Tower: reaching for a kilometre

Jeddah Tower leads the city — and the whole Kingdom — with a planned height of about one kilometre, set to be the first building ever to pass the 1,000-metre mark once complete. It sits north of Jeddah within the Jeddah Economic City development.

Beyond that mega-project, the tallest completed tower in Jeddah remains Burj Assila on the Corniche, finished in 2021.

The Corniche and an architectural legacy

Most of Jeddah's towers are concentrated along the Corniche — from the Sumou Towers and Burj Assila to the sail-shaped Headquarters Business Park and the Golden Tower — combining residential, office and hotel uses overlooking the sea.

The National Commercial Bank Tower, dating to 1983, is one of the pioneers of the city's modern high-rises: its triangular form turns its windows onto an internal atrium rather than the direct sun, making it a landmark in Jeddah's architectural history.
